If you use Windows 7, DO NOT INSTALL THE DONGLE'S SOFTWARE. I usually install software before using the related hardware. However, in the case of the Medialink, it is unnecessary and (as I read on the various blogs) potentially counter-productive. Just plug in the dongle and go - it's as simple as that - immediate 802.11n connection on your Win 7 machine. I use an Apple Airport router, a Dell and HP laptop, a Samsung TV as well as a Mac Pro on this network.
The only drawback I see to this product is that the printed insert does not really tell you how to install properly--you have to read the pdf file on the CD.
I needed to connect an older Windows XP computer (that hasn't been upgraded to SP 3) with my network. The Medialink Link Wireless N Adapter was inexpensive and did not say it required SP3 to install. It works great! Connecting to my network was easy and reception was excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase again.
